The Holy Redeemer Bereavement Committee is comprised of parishioners that offer sympathy to families on behalf of the parish. A founding member of the committee, Dr. Anne Crowley, brought together former members of Bereavement Committees of St. Agatha and Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary parishes to serve the families of Holy Redeemer.
The committee members, depending on their schedule and availability during the year, attend funeral home calling hours, funerals and send sympathy cards.
The Bereavement Committee organizes the All Souls Mass on November 2nd. Each year a candle is prepared for each of our beloved deceased. Families of the deceased of the year are invited to remember and pray with our parish at this mass. Families are also asked to carry their loved ones' candle and place it at the altar during the liturgy. A reception is provided after mass by our Christian Mothers / Ladies Guild for families to share and celebrate their memories. The evening of All Souls mass is a beautiful way for us to console our grieving famlies during such difficult times and is made possible through generous donations.
A subcommittee of the Bereavement Committee, this group of dedicated men and women assist families who wish to have their bereavement luncheons at the Parish Catholic Center or Lunchroom. They prepare the venue to be welcoming and assist the caterers. The make sure the facilities are cleaned up and in order, relieving that concern from family members.
