God’s Precious Preemies and Threads of Warmth
God’s Precious Preemies and Threads of Warmth are in their ninth year of serving preemies and people in need. We meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the Upper Room from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Our group is made up of caring women who give their time to help children and the needy. Our projects are knitted, crocheted, and made on looms and sewing machines. We discuss what is needed the most, then work on that project. A lot of our ladies work at home and deliver their item to me at church. We supply items to nursing homes and the homeless in Pittsburgh; at Christmas, we help fill the Giving Trees at St. Ferdinand and in Braddock. All year long, we make hats for chemo patients at UPMC Passavant, Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, and parishioners who request one. We supply numerous items for preemies to WPH in Pittsburgh. We are always looking for new people to help us out. If you are interested in joining us, please call Jan Shaffer at 724.538.9753. Knowing how to knit or crochet is helpful, but all of us will help you learn.
We Are Blessed
Words cannot express our gratitude for the response of our parishioners to our new ministry, God’s Precious Preemies. Under the leadership of Jan Shaffer the group has made hundreds of hats, dresses, booties and blankets that are used in the NIC Units of hospitals in Pittsburgh. Thank you.
Dear Lord, Please guide our hands in making items for these precious babies. Help them to know the love we have for them by the warmth of the clothing we have made for their use. Protect their tiny bodies against disease and harm. Let their loving parents be able to watch them grow to be strong and healthy. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
